Here is a list of the events I'll be participating in this year:
Webster Lake Triathlon - Sunday, June 21st, 2009
http://www.firm-racing.com/events.asp
Distance: Swim .5 Miles Bike 12 Miles Run 3 Miles
Location: Webster, MA
Info: The swim is a .5 mile swim in sprawling Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg. For you trivia buffs, it's the longest name of a place in the country.
Amica Providence 1/2 IronMan Triathlon - Sunday, July 12th
http://ironman.com/rhodeisland70.3
Distance: Swim 1.2 Miles Bike 56 Miles Run 13.1 Miles
Location: Starts in Naragansett Bay and Finishes in Dowtown Providence, RI
Info: The swim will be held in the protected waters off Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett. Water temperatures are expected to be 68-72 degrees F. The majority of the bike course encompasses the quiet, scenic communities of Exeter, West Greenwich, Coventry, North Scituate and Johnston. The bike route finishes in downtown Providence, with the bike-to-run transition located at Waterplace Park. The two-loop run course takes athletes through the historic East Side of Providence, tree-lined Blackstone Boulevard, Brown University campus and downtown Providence's business district. The race finishes with a backdrop of the State Capitol and Providence Place Mall.
Cigna Falmouth Road Race - Sunday, August 9th, 2009
http://www.falmouthroadrace.com/
Distance - Run 7 Miles
Location - Starts in Woods Hole in Falmouth, MA and finishes in Falmouth Heights, MA
Info - Jamie will be joining me for this one! The first three miles are narrow, hilly, winding tree shaded roads, while the last four miles are open on the flat right next to Martha's Vineyard Sound. A small steep hill lets you know that you are beginning the last half-mile of the race. Once you crest the hill it is "all downhill" to the finish.
The Nation's Triathlon - Sunday September 13th, 2009
http://www.nationstri.com/
Distance - Swim .93 Miles Bike 24.85 Miles Run 6.2 Miles (Olympic Distance)
Location - Washington, DC
Info - I'll be participating as part of the Bates College Triathlon Team for this event. There are over 20 current students and alumni that make up the team.
It features a course that winds through Washington, DC’s monument corridor in the shadow of the nation’s best known memorials and national treasures. The swim is in the Potomac River, the bike course through winds through DC, and the run is through Washington, DC’s historical landmarks with a spectacular finish!
