Napa/SF and the Beginning of Week 8

It's been a while since my last post, but to catch you up...Jamie and I had unbelievable time in Wine Country and San Francisco. One of the best vacations we've ever been on. Amazing scenery, food, and wine!! Weather in Napa was beautiful - three straight 75 degree sunny days. We took a bike tour through the Stags Leap and Oakville areas of the valley and stopped at 4 wineries along the way, visited some really cool wineries on our own the next day, and made it to the oldest winery in either Sonoma or Napa (Buena Vista Vineyards) the following day.

By far, the coolest winery we visited was called Pride Mountain near Calistoga and St. Helena. It's a hidden vineyard way on the mountain side of the valley and the 5 mile winding road to get up there was definitely a hairy ride - Jamie can vouch for this! But it was definitely worth it. Their property, wines, wine cave and tasting room were unbelievable!!

We also had a great time in San Francisco and enjoyed some amazing Sushi, Dungeness Crab, Sour Dough bread, and some more great wine! I think overall we tasted over 60 different wines while we there.

Alcatraz was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. The self guided audio tour is unreal and walks you through just what life was like at the prison and is narrated by former prison guards and inmates.

Back to regular training this week. We were able to workout quite a bit in the morning's while we were away, but it wasn't the intensive training that I get following the schedule. I brought the new bike into the local bike shop in Natick to have it assembled yesterday and today I have an appointment to get it properly fitted and adjusted. The session lasts about an hour and half and measures your flexibility, limbs, inseam, reach, torso, power angles, etc. It is designed to give you the most efficient pedaling motion in order to save your legs for the run.
